Bible Study Leader Announced

ECG is pleased to announce that Rev Pete Phillips will be joining us in Scarborough as the key Bible teacher for the week. Pete works at St Johns college, Durham. Pete describes himself as a Postmodern Christian Evangelical Methodist who tries to avoid labels, with left of centre political views. He is married to Theresa Phillips. Here is Pete's quick description of himself:

I'm into the New Testament (especially John's Gospel), technology, literary theory, postmodernism, football and that kind of stuff. I am married to Theresa with three great kids (and a Westie called Grace). I'm a Christian and love the whole church thing, which is good because I also work for the Methodist Church in the UK. My formal job titles are: Director of Research for CODEC at St John's College, Durham University and Secretary to the Faith and Order Committee of the Methodist Church.

BREAKING NEWS - Change to venue for 2012

ECG 2012 will be held at Scarborough Spa Conference and Entertainment Venue.

Dear friends,

We are writing to you as the key booking contact for your church or group for ECG, and we would appreciate it if you could ensure that this letter is circulated among those attending next year.

When the theme of 'Journey' was chosen for ECG 2012, like the people of God in Egypt we had no idea what was coming. Two significant challenges have shaped the following difficult but prayerful decision to move the 2012 venue from Southport to Scarborough.

Firstly, despite the best assurances of the Southport Accommodation personnel, there are insufficient beds at affordable prices. Many ECG regulars have found, after extensive searches, that there is very little availability. Secondly, high season rates are being charged in most hotels because of the influx of visitors for the Grand National Weekend.

Whilst we believe this move from Southport to Scarborough to be for the best, we appreciate that some of you may have already booked accommodation. In general, the hotels are cheaper than Southport and so the overall price may well compensate any loss of deposits. Anne Bell has kindly volunteered to help ECG, and on our behalf has visited many of the hotels and negotiated some incredible deals. Anne would like to offer assistance in helping you find the accommodation to best suite your needs. She is happy to help, advise or to be contacted with regards to any loss of deposits. Please bear in mind that, although requests will be dealt with as quickly as possible, as we are approaching the holiday season it may not be possible to respond immediately. Anne's contact details are below.

We very much hope that you will be happy with the change of venue. This move has not come without the directors researching all other options. We believe we have seen the grace of God in providing this new venue in Scarborough. We are each happy to speak to you if you feel the need to get in touch. We sincerely hope that you understand and that you will continue to stand with us and pray as we journey to Scarborough in 2012. Looking forward to seeing you there.
